"I have been going to Beishen's yoga class at the Boyd Community Centre in Southbank for over a year. When I saw the ad for the class in a local newspaper I just thought I’d go along for a week or two, but Beishen’s yoga class is now an integral part of my weekly routine.

Beishen’s gentle instructions are always accompanied by the two words, ‘inhale, exhale’ – a soothing and settling soundtrack to the work we do. She emphasizes the spine through constant reminders to lengthen the back of the neck and paying attention in the lower abdominal. She also provide alternatives in the same posture for those with injuries or a different level of fitness. Her class is suitable for all ages (I am in my mid-fifties).

"I have been to many yoga programs over time, but finding Beishen has made such a difference to both my physical and mental wellbeing. This is not a 'watch the teacher and copy' program. In a class, Beishen is extraordinarily patient and moves between students supporting them with personal attention that considers their needs and capacity. 

I had a few private classes with Beishen. These personalised classes gave me a better opportunity to make connection with movements and breathing.

There have been 2 significant outcomes for me through Beishen's classes. The first is her focus on breathing throughout the class. This has had an enormous impact on how I move through my day now, returning to the breath constantly to regain focus and calm myself. The second is the impact of her designed sequences had on my long term hip problem (for which I had numerous treatments over time). The daily practice I do now ensures I am pain free and have full unrestricted movement again.

"I have been attending Yoga with Beishen at the Boyd Centre for just over a year (since January 2017). I am a runner (and long walker), and I originally attended to help with my flexibility and core strength. Beishen is an excellent instructor who takes the time to explain each pose and then assists us to hold them correctly.  She also takes the time to understand our capabilities and limitations, and helps us to adapt accordingly. My flexibility and balance is definitely improving, and I now look forward to Yoga each week, not just as an adjunct to my exercise routine, but as a key part!"
